The upcoming flagship from OnePlus, OnePlus 2 will be priced under $450. Company’s CEO, Pete Lau confirmed it through Company’s social media pages. The number $450 might looks a pricey one but it actually translates to something which we don’t know until the phone is revealed on July 27, 2015. In the interaction with the community, Pete clarifies that they may price it to the lowest as possible as the company is always aims to provide the best Smartphone and it never been about the price. Looking back, the OnePlus One launched in 2014 at a price of $299 (£229, about AU$320) for the 16GB Silk White model and $349 (about £280, AU$465) for the 64GB Sandstone Black version. Just last month, OnePlus permanently reduced the price of each variation, dropping the price of the 16GB and 64GB models down to $249 (£179, about AU$332) and $299 (£219, about AU$398), respectively.
We’ve seen price estimates for the #OnePlus2 upwards of $500. But, we made a promise to our users. “Honestly, it’s never been about the price. We simply make the best smartphones we can, and we go from there.”
Far from the reality, $399 seems like a reasonable price but looking forward and considering the features revealed by the Company for the next “Flagship Killer” makes to think us twice about the price. So far we know from the Company’s timeline announcements; it will come with stocked with an improved Snapdragon 810 SoC, USB Type-C and also feature a Fingerprint Scanner that ‘twice fast as any iPhone’. Lau teased that the phone would launch right around the $400 mark back in May, and now, he’s promised as much through a social media post. We’ll see if he kept to his word when the OnePlus Two is revealed later in the month.
