Asus ROG Announces Partnership with Unity Technologies

In a press release, Asus has announced it is a Verified Solution Partner of Unity, the platform that is used for many mobile games. It will ensure its SDK (Software Development Kit) is optimized for Unity Editor, providing a smooth experience for developers using Unity. The key take away is that ROG is creating a plugin for Unity’s Engine that supports five features in ROG Phone II and ROG Phone 3. This move will allow developers to gain access to ROG Phone plugins, making optimization of games for ROG Phone gaming ecosystem easier than before.

  • This will ensure the game developers leave no stone unturned to make the ROG gaming a truly wonderful experience, with a chance of wider range of titles coming to the upcoming ROG phone lineups.
  • There might be exclusive titles for ROG phones, as there’s not many gaming phones with the features and capabilities of Asus’ ROG Phones.
  • For the developers, or anyone who’s interested, the plugins include:
    • TwinView SDK
    • Gamepad SDK
    • Aura Light SDK
    • Refresh Rate Control SDK
    • Performance Boost SDK
    • More SDKs may be added as they become available in future.

Looking at the SDKs, you can expect high performing games with beautiful imagery and as an added effect, the Aura lighting might be used creatively to spice things up in the game. There’s kits for Gamepad and TwinView as well, which only increase the immersive mobile gaming experience, that’d be difficult to compete with. Hopefully, this will boost the development of next-level gaming phones from other companies as well.

To promote and grow this partnership, ROG also plans to attend selected major international developer engagement events in this year. They’re as excited as people who want to game on mobile device in the way the device is capable of, which is pretty promising in terms of ROG Phones.
