Lens on OnePlus 8 Pro Works as X-Ray Vision | They Plan to Fix it

After the reports of finding OnePlus 8 Pro’s color filter lens acting as x-ray, OnePlus announced that it will temporarily disable that camera in a future update. It offers infrared photography, but was found to be able to see through certain materials like thin plastic and even clothing. The company said they’ll re-enable the lens after they’ve solved the problem. But, they’re disabling it only on HydrogenOS, in China, and not on OxygenOS, which is global version of their operating system, as they want to focus on bringing the fix via OTA update as quickly as possible.

While few people are raising privacy concerns, others are appreciating the Photochrome shots taken with the lens. It’s also said that problem occurred only in certain specific conditions. A staff member shared few landscape photos shot with this mode on the OnePlus forum, and most seem to appreciate the results. The company aims to offer Photochrome filter while somehow fixing the see-through ability of the camera. We have to see how they’ll implement this.

OnePlus 8 Pro is available in 8GB RAM + 128GB Storage at INR 54,999, and in 12GB RAM + 256GB Storage at INR 59,999. It’s available in Onyx Black and Glacial Green via online and offline stores.
