LG Teases ‘Velvet’ Phone | Launches on May 7 | Rumored Specs

LG is here with a design first approach for the up-coming device and named it ‘Velvet’. They confirmed that May 7, 2020 is when it’s coming. It boasts of ‘Raindrop’ triple camera setup and curved glass design.

This will be the first device from LG to implement a new branding strategy of having a familiar and expressive name, instead of their previous alphanumerical naming scheme. Velvet is intended to evoke images of smoothness and premium softness, which are two key characteristics of the phone.

They followed up with a video on its Design:

It will have symmetrical curved glass, 3D Arc Design. According to them, they want to set themselves apart from other phones using a distinctive design. From what we can see so far, they’re doing a good job, I suppose.

While they’re working on their product, some specifications have surfaced online. These aren’t confirmed yet, so take them as leaked/rumored specs:

  • Processor: Snapdragon 765G
  • Battery: 4300mAh
  • 8GB RAM + 128GB ROM

  • Weight: 180g
  • Colors: Aurora White, Aurora Grey, Aurora Green, Mirage Sunset.
  • Connectivity: Built-in 5G support

The phone is confirmed to be announced on May 7, 2020.
It could be priced at KRW 899,800, in the Korean market. Which is approximately INR 55,800 / $730 / EUR 675. But, as these aren’t confirmed, we’d have to wait till May 7.
