New Samsung Leaks Say Galaxy Note 20+ To Get Variable 120Hz Display

Update (as on 13-May-2020): Galaxy Note 20 to get LTPS display and 60Hz refresh rate. As LTPO costs more, it’d appear on high-end models first, i.e., Note 20+ to still get the 120Hz LTPO display. Making 120Hz with LTPS consumes a lot of power, and LTPO is supposedly the best implementation for 120Hz, according to Ross Young.

Recently, Samsung implemented 120Hz displays with their Galaxy S20 series. But, there were few things to improve, to fully utilize the 120Hz prowess. Things like, better management of battery life, giving WQHD+ resolution and not just FHD+ with 120Hz. Now, it looks like all of those issues might be resolved with the upcoming Galaxy Note 20 series. In a series of tweets, Ross Young revealed few details about the displays of Note 20 and Note 20+. These devices would feature LTPO technology with their OLED panels. Which is supposed to save power and also help in the variable refresh rate. It also revealed few display specifications of both Galaxy Note 20+ and Note 20.

Galaxy Note 20+ rumoured to have:

  • 6.87″ LTPO display
  • 3096 x 1444 resolution
  • 497ppi, 19.3:9 aspect ratio
  • 120Hz refresh rate
  • Lowest power implementation of 120Hz due to variable refresh rate

Galaxy Note 20 rumoured to have:

  • 6.42″ LTPO display (Update: LTPS panel)
  • 2345 x 1084 resolution
  • 404ppi, 19.5:9 aspect ratio
  • 120Hz refresh rate (Update: 60Hz refresh rate)

Variable refresh rate is really a game changer in saving battery life and giving an amazing visual where needed. He also said, we might not get the Samsung Galaxy Note Ultra and we might just get Galaxy Fold 2 instead. Which is start of a new trend maybe?
We’ll see, as they are expected to launch in August. But don’t get your hopes up, as we don’t know anything due to the ongoing pandemic.

Anyway, what do you think? Let us know.
