The new ColorOS 7 comes with a design revamp and offers minimalist and simple interface. It’ll be the biggest update to the ColorOS. So, let’s see what features it has to offer:

- Customized Icons
- Choose from different icon styles and customize their size and shape.
- UI is 2D, giving it a minimalist look instead of 3D look with older approach.
- It has new icon design, with rounded squares, and most third party apps adapt to this new icon design.
- Animations
- There are new animations at your different touches, while charging, and even in weather screen.
- Simplified Sounds
- Sound effects for different apps like Keyboard, calculator, etc.
- New simple ringtones and other sounds.
- They brought new ringtones, notification sounds, and alarm sounds. Which they say is simple.
- Dark Mode
- Better dark mode implementation than Stock Android.
- Artist Wallpaper Project
- New type of wallpapers that are responsive to user interactions and change dynamically as one navigates their phone.
- It has three new minimalist abstract wallpapers on top of previous collection of wallpapers.
- Camera Features
- Ultra Night Mode, Smart Blur, AI Beautification 2.0, Upgraded Face Beauty Mode.
- Soloop Video Editor: Instantly Create and Share Videos
- Smart short video editor
- Intelligent Categorization: Soloop recognizes what’s in the media files and sorts them in different categories.
- Soloop auto-selects music from tons of tracks.
- Hyper Boost
- Immersive Gaming Experience: Game Space interface will be better with reduced network delays, to make interaction smoother.
- Startup Splash Screen & Transition Animation that supports 4D vibration.
- Fluency
- ColorOS 7 can identify usage scenarios and prepare system resources ahead of the usage, for smooth experience.
- Power Saving
- The O-AI power saving technology can increase your phone’s battery life by up-to 10% for daily usage.
- The OS also learns sleep patterns to quickly enter the phone into hibernation after you’ve fallen asleep, to reduce power consumption by 35%.
- It also includes other features like: Private Safe, App Lock, Digital Wellbeing, Clone Phone, Smart Sidebar, Smart Assistant, Riding Mode, DocVault, Smart Assistant, Personal Information Leakage Protection, Private Safe, Screen Off Clock (Always On Display).
- For DocVault, ColorOS has partnered with Indian digital documents platform DigitalLocker. So, this benefits the ID verification process at various places.
- It retains many features from previous version of OS like, 3-button navigation, Swipe up from both sides, Swipe up gestures, etc.
- It has upgraded three-finger screenshot, where you touch and hold with three fingers, you can select the exact size of the screenshot and then release, to take that precise screenshot.
- Full support for Android’s notification features.
- Modal Pages are incorporated throughout the interface, to make apps be easily used with just one hand. In this, the main functions of the app are available towards the bottom side of the app interface.
A slight problem is that it has lot of bloatware. Also, there’s no mute mode without vibration. So, if you don’t want vibration, you’d have to go to Do Not Disturb settings.
Oppo will rollout the ColorOS 7 according to the following:
In 26 November 2019, Reno, Reno 10x Zoom, were scheduled to get the update.
In December 2019, Reno2, F11, F11 Pro, F11 Pro Marvel’s Avengers Limited Edition, were scheduled to get the update.
In 2020 Q1, Find X, Find X Automobili Lamborghini Edition, Find X SuperVOOC Edition, Reno2 F, Reno Z, R17, R17 Pro, RX17 Pro, Reno2 Z, A9 are scheduled to get the updates.
In 2020 Q2, F7, F7 128G, F9, F9 Pro, R15, R15 Pro, A5 2020, A9 2020, K3 are scheduled to get updates.
Trial versions will be released batch by batch.
