Google Pixel’s New Battery and Security Features

Google introduced new features with their latest software update, with more options for security with Personal Safety App and battery improvements. For battery, it’s getting Adaptive battery improvements, and now it can predict when the battery will run out and uses that information to reduce the background activity to keep the battery life going. It already does the background activity control based on frequently or rarely used apps, but this seems to be an improvement on that.

  • Adaptive Battery Improvements:
    • Predicts when battery might run out and minimizes background activity accordingly.
  • Bedtime:
    • If you stay past the bedtime, your phone will send a quick glance of how you’re spending your waking hours and on which apps.
    • Set alarm with your track of choice
    • Screen will gradually increase brightness from the morning
  • Recorder, Docs, Google Assistant:
    • Use the recorder app to start recordings with just a simple, ‘Hey Google, start recording my meeting.’
    • It can even save a transcript of recording directly to Google Docs, which can easily be shared with others.
  • Personal Safety App
    • The App on Pixel 4 will be available on all Pixel devices.
    • ‘Car crash direction’ is coming to Pixel 3.
      • This might not work in all crashes. It might work in high impact situations.
      • It might also not work in case of network issues or other factors.
    • They’re introducing ‘Safety Check’, which schedules a check-in from the app at a later time. If you’re going out alone at night, Safety Check will help you reach home safely.
      • How it works is, once you don’t respond to the scheduled check-in within some time, it’ll alert your emergency contacts along with your real time location through Google Maps.
    • It also has ‘Crisis Alerts’, once enabled, it will notify about natural disasters or other emergencies.

It would be great to see the useful features in every single smartphone, as it’s definitely helpful to anyone in emergency situations. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below or tweet out to us.
