These are the 5 things everyone is too excited about
1. Free voice calls and sms
2. 1 gb of data will cost 50rs
3. Jio sms is free on blackout days
4. From 5th september anyone can get jio
5. Welcome offer is Free till dec 31st
6. Students will get 25% additional data
7. No Black Out days
8. No Roaming Days
But heres the catch
1. Free voice calling, you cant call it voice calling to be precise
a. Its voice over LTE
b. So on your phone you need to have the VoLTE option enabled to make free calls
c. Or enable 4g mobile data to make calls
d. If you don’t have VoLte, it will drain battery if you use 4g
e. So far based on our research, data consumed on voice calls will not be taken as 4g data, so that’s a good thing
2. 1gb of data for 50rs
a. If we look at the current plans
b. There is no proof of this
c. The cheapest plan is for 149rs which gives you just 300mb of 4g data
d. I wont say it a lie, but I don’t see a prof of it either
e. Its more like a marketing term to make people go crazy
f. Because there is no suck plan , where u actually get exactly 1gb of 4g data for just 50Rs,
i. Ill say “Well Played Reliance”
3. Jio sms free free free
a. Seriously, who among you ,using a smartphone in 2016, chose to send a sms instead of a whatsapp or a facebook message
b. Im not saying its use less, it has its perks , but it is nothing too much to be hiped while talking about digital india
4. Mr Mukesh ambanie said, you can get the jio sim in 15 minutes with adhar card
a. But as Per UrIndina Consimer and many other youtubers. That’s not the case
b. Atleaset not as of now anyway
5. Each reliance sim outlet has limited sim cards, ranging from 20to50
a. So they are giving away token for a specifc date
b. U need to go on that specific date with that token to get the sim
c. Once again, this might not be happening every where, this is whats happening in Hyderabad
6. Reliance said we will get unlimmeted 4g in welcome offer
a. But that’s limited to 4gb per day, after that it will drop to 128kbps
b. Im pretty sure any normal person wouldn’t use more than that , unless u were downloading stuff from torrents
7. Reliance offers unlimited 4g at night, for plans above 499rs
a. But reliance consider 2Am to 5Am as Night, so its very rare that u will be able to take advantage of it
8. We don’t have offical statement, but everyong u got the jio sim before 5th and who got on and after 5th september will be included in Jio Welcome plan, which has 4gb per day limit
9. Next comes the Jio apps
a. We have different Jio apps, which are ranked as the top free apps on google playstore very quickly.
b. They have their perks, and can be used for free of cost till dec 31st
c. Btw using these apps will consume data
10. Reliance has reduced the price of Jio Mi Fi to 2000rs approxmiatly, which is something I would suggest u to buy
a. It a portable wifi hotspot with 4g speeds
b. It can last u 7 hours of usage
c. And becaouse of this , ur phoes battery wont drain
d. As for me im going to use it for my home internet till jan 1st, lets hope it delivers consistant speeds
e. Btw we can make calls via the Mi Fi, using the Jio app installed on our phone
11. We can port our number to Jio, not as of now anyway
a. Maybe after few days we can
b. But I wouldn’t suggest u to do it for ur primary sim, atleast not as of now
12. Every seems to be really shocked about free voice calls , but this is not all that new, its already available in US carriers like AT&t and verizon
So if u are wondering , if should get it or not
As of now considering the welcome offer,
Definitly The answer is yes
Its slightly a pain to go stand in the line and buy it , but its efinitly worth it
Its free, speeds are real,
So Get it
use it as a secondary sim till Jan 1st
And u can probably about ditching it after that if u are not satisfied with the call quality and other stuff,
As of now, the welcome offer is really good, and its freeeeeeeeeeee
