RealMe 1 vs Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 Camera Comparison

RealMe 1 comes in two variants: 3GB RAM | 32GB ROM priced at ₹ 8,990.

The 6GB RAM | 128 GB ROM variant costs ₹ 13,990.

There’s another variant which falls in between these two 4GB RAM | 64 GB ROM which is available for ₹ 10,990.

Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 also comes in two variants: 3GB RAM | 32GB ROM priced at ₹ 10,999.

4GB RAM | 64GB ROM which costs ₹ 12,999.

As this is a camera comparison, let’s look at the camera specifications for both the phones:

Asus M1 has dual rear cameras. The primary camera being 13MP with f/2.2 aperture and the secondary one being 5MP with f/2.4 aperture.

Front camera is of 8MP with f/2.2 aperture, with a dedicated soft LED flashlight.

RealMe1 comes with a Single 13MP camera which has f/2.2 aperture.

Front camera has 8MP with f/2.2 aperture.

HDR Mode:

There’s an Auto-HDR mode on RealMe1, but Asus just has HDR. So, these are few sample shots below, in which Auto-HDR was on, in RealMe1 and HDR mode was on, in Asus M1.

Capturing speeds are faster on RealMe 1. Asus M1 is a bit slow. It takes a second or two and your hands should be steady at that time.

While Asus performed better in HDR, RealMe 1 was better in Auto Mode. If you take normal pictures in auto-mode, RealMe 1 delivers better results than Asus M1. If you have time and patience and you’re really looking for great shots in HDR mode, Asus M1 performs better than RealMe 1.

Without HDR:

Capturing speeds are good on both the phones. Images from RealMe 1 are a bit over-exposed, have warmer colors, and are a bit saturated but overall look more pleasing.

Images from Asus M1 are close to accurate colors, but when dynamic range is involved, they look a bit faded.

Images from rear cameras of both the phones look good. So, if you’re a photography enthusiast, Asus M1 will be better. If you like to take photos in Auto-mode, RealMe 1 will be better.

Portrait Mode:

Both the phones offer portrait mode, but the face detection works better on Asus because of the dual camera setup.

Overall, Asus M1 does a better job with things like Color Reproduction, Exposure Control, Edge Detection.

Low Light Conditions:

In the low light indoor setting, both the phones have same results with Asus performing slightly better, except the capturing speeds are slightly slower.

In the low light outdoor conditions, RealMe 1 does a better job most of the time but, Asus has better exposure control.

Selfies:

RealMe 1 supports Auto-HDR even in selfie camera, while Asus M1 doesn’t. So the selfies taken are in Auto-HDR mode on RealMe 1 and without HDR on Asus.

Selfies from RealMe 1 look much cleaner, have more details, better colors, better dynamic range.

Portrait Selfies:

Unlike other phones, Auto-HDR mode is available even in portrait selfies on RealMe 1. So, you get slightly better dynamic range than Asus M1.

Selfies taken in low lighting conditions are much better in RealMe 1, mostly because of the Auto-HDR mode.

Video:

The rear camera footage on Asus looks good, while the RealMe1 footage looks a bit over-exposed.

We can record at 4K resolution on Asus, while we can only record at 1080p on RealMe 1. Both lack stabilization, so the footage is shaky on both the phones.

Footage from the front camera on Asus M1 looks bad, while the RealMe 1 footage looks better.
